Greenhouses to Garlic

Dave and me (Curtis) met over a shared interest in Passive Solar Greenhouses.  Over time we wondered could we trial some pretty novel things with these year-round greenhouses and garlic.  Could we start growing garlic from tiny garlic bulbils (kind of like a seed) in our greenhouses during the harsh Newfoundland Winter?  Could we get these bulbils started and then push them outside in the spring so we could adapt new garlic varieties to the local climate?  Could we bring some good, but dormant farmland up to snuff in order to scale things up quickly?  Fast forward a couple years and after a lot of hard-work, help, and planning it looks like things are working!  We are now pleased to offer high-quality, and delicious garlic to backyard growers, garlic-hungry home cooks and restaurants alike.

The farm is located just off of the scenic East Coast Trail in Flatrock, Newfoundland and Labrador.   The land has a long history of growing food, having been a productive farm for the Wade family dating all the way back to early 1800s.  We are honored to bring it back in production for another generation, and thank Jason and Jimmy Wade for giving us the opportunity to work this land.

Our farming philosophy looks to maximize locally sourced fertility, cover cropping, science and ingenuity to build our soil and test what is possible. While we are anchored in garlic, we will be expanding our vegetable, seed, and product offerings as the seasons come.

Let us know what you wish was grown fresh locally.... and we'll see if we can have that problem Fixed !
