    • Home Gardners interested in maintaining and getting the most out of their home vegetable gardens.   Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, share experiences, and gain personalized insights into overcoming common gardening challenges.

     

    By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with a comprehensive understanding of gardening principles and techniques, along with the confidence and skills needed to maintain a productive and sustainable garden.

     

    This workshop is planned for Saturday, July 20th 2024.  If the weather is completely uncooperative we will reshchedule to the following day.

      Growing Skills:

      • Fertility Management: Explore techniques for soil fertility enhancement through organic matter addition and nutrient balancing, ensuring optimal conditions for robust plant growth.
      • Optimal Harvesting: Master the art of harvesting at the peak of freshness and flavor, maximizing yields and quality while prolonging the productivity of your garden.  We will also discuss curing and storage of special crops like onions, garlic and squash.
      • Managing Common Pests and Diseases: Gain insights into  cultural, biological, and ecological approaches to minimize pest and disease damage sustainably.
      • Succession Planting: Learn the art of timing and planning successive plantings to ensure a continuous harvest throughout the growing season, optimizing space and resources.

      • Rainwater Collection and Irrigation: Discover the benefits of rainwater harvesting systems for sustainable water management, and learn how to design and implement efficient irrigation systems to meet the specific needs of your garden.
      • Drip Tape: Explore the advantages of drip irrigation systems in delivering precise and targeted water and nutrient delivery directly to plant roots, conserving water and reducing weed growth.
      • Greenhouse Management: Delve into climate control and ventilation, pest and disease management, maximizing the potential of protected cultivation.
